Managed Payroll vs. Deel: Which One Is Actually Right for You?

Deel is built for global contractor and EOR payments. Managed payroll is built for U.S. employee operations. If you're comparing them, you may be solving the wrong problem.

Deel has become one of the most recognizable names in payroll over the last few years -- partly because they raised a massive funding round, partly because remote work exploded demand for international contractor payments. If you've been pitched Deel or you're actively evaluating it, this page will help you figure out whether it's actually the right tool for your situation.

The short version: Deel and BEG managed payroll solve different problems. Comparing them directly is a bit like comparing a passport to a driver's license. Both are identity documents; they serve very different purposes.

Where Deel Excels

If you're hiring contractors in Brazil, Romania, the Philippines, and Canada simultaneously and need a single platform to manage contracts, payments in local currencies, and 1099/equivalent filings -- Deel is a strong choice. Its strengths:

Deel's pricing reflects the complexity of what it does internationally. At $49–$599+ per contractor per month, it's priced for global operations, not for domestic W-2 payroll management.

Why Companies with U.S. Employees Don't Need Deel

If your workforce is primarily domestic W-2 employees -- which describes most U.S. companies with 20–200 employees -- Deel is solving a problem you don't have. You'd be paying for international contractor infrastructure you'll never use.

More importantly: Deel is still a self-service platform for domestic payroll. You're still the one managing it. The value proposition (international EOR + global payments) doesn't apply, and the platform requires a full migration from whatever system you're currently on.

BEG managed payroll is the opposite model: we work inside your existing system, handle everything operationally, and you don't touch payroll at all.

Not sure which model fits your situation?

In 15 minutes we'll look at your workforce mix and tell you honestly whether managed payroll, Deel, or something else is the right answer.

The Migration Question

One objection we hear often: "We'd have to migrate to a new system." That's true with Deel -- and with most platform-based payroll tools. Every platform wants you in their ecosystem.

BEG managed payroll is specifically designed to avoid that friction. We can operate in your existing payroll system -- ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, or others -- so you're not ripping and replacing anything. We just take over the work.

If you want to move to isolved (our preferred platform), we can manage that migration too. But it's optional, not required.

When to Consider Both

Some companies legitimately need both: a managed payroll service for their domestic W-2 workforce AND a tool like Deel for international contractors. These aren't mutually exclusive. If that's your situation, BEG can handle the domestic side while Deel handles the global contractor payments.
