Nevada Payroll Requirements
Nevada has no state income tax, removing that withholding and filing obligation from Nevada employers entirely. However, Nevada does have daily overtime requirements beyond the federal FLSA standard. Nevada non-exempt employees who earn less than 1.5 times the minimum wage are entitled to overtime after 8 hours in a workday, in addition to the standard weekly overtime threshold. This makes Nevada one of only two states (along with California) with daily overtime rules.
Nevada SUI is administered by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). Nevada employers must manage new hire reporting to the Nevada New Hire Program and comply with Nevada's wage and hour laws, including specific rules around tip credits and pay frequency.
BEG handles Nevada payroll compliance: daily overtime calculations for qualifying non-exempt employees, SUI filings and payments to DETR, new hire reporting, federal payroll tax deposits and quarterly 941 filings, garnishment processing, and year-end W-2 production. The absence of state income tax simplifies one piece of Nevada payroll, but daily overtime calculations require precision every cycle. BEG gets them right.
